Good Luck

Yeah that’s what I need to wake up later. Wish me luck.

On a side note, here’s a really cool picture.

I Want to Wake Up Kicking & Screaming

I want to live like I know the meaning, I want to know that my heart’s still beating, its beating, I’m bleeding.

Goodness, it has been a really long time since I actually posted something other than pictures. Anyway, in case you don’t know, those pictures are my respite in a busy and hectic life. The physical manifestation of beauty and good design soothes my mind.

Many things have happened since the since the last time I made a proper post on this blog. Since I made my last musings of life. For one, my faith in God has gone through ups and downs. Like a rollercoaster. Like the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer, and then vice versa. Sorry, that was a Richard III quip there.

One thing that’s bugging me most – THE COMMON TESTS. Basically, pieces of paper, that you fill in stuff, whatever you can or desperately try to remember from lessons, and contributes to 20% of your chance of getting promoted to J2. Wow. Clearly its important. However, I’ve not started much on revisions. And Chinese, and GP are in 2 days time. So help me Lord.

Of course, there were good moments during these days, no matter how tiring. For one, the really nice lady at Marriott, where Ashley and myself visited to view their ballroom. Thank you, for taking time to introduce us to the package available, and offering us tea. That is good service people. (A brazen hint at the ‘Grand’ Hyatt). And then there was the rather fun trip to Chinatown a month or two back. Along with the trip to Ann Siang Hill.

Okay, I’m getting bored recounting my life at this point in time.

Picture Ledge

Incidentally, my parents and I are trying to find a way to display a few pictures we got from a recent holiday. This could be inspirational…

Hmm I think I’ve been posting too many design pictures lately… I guess that’s cause design’s my form of escape from the craziness of the world around me. It’s a sweet bliss order – one that looks good too.

And apparently, its a small world after all… (random moment)

The stairs are amazing. And I love that photo hung on the wall in the bedroom (last picture).

Time Flies

Its been a while since I’ve made any proper posts that involve more than pictures. Well, this one won’t be very much of an improvement.

Its amazing that it is already May, that half a year has gone by. It literally just flew by, leaving an ignorant and disoriented me left behind. So much has happened in the course of these six months that have just vanished into nowhere.

Amidst all of this change and transience, one thing remained constant and anchored. God. I know that over the past half a year, there were ups, and there were downs. There were moments where I felt tired of religiosity, spiritually empty, dry, thirsty, overwhelmed. But the fact that I am still here today, alive and kicking, still praising Him is testament to His goodness and glory. Without Him, I would have collapsed under the pressures of the first two camps. Without Him, the Common Tests would have been a disaster for me. Lacking His grace and presence, I might have just given up on school. But I haven’t. Something I learnt at the beginning of the year really holds true (it is a little cheesy though):

When faced with a crisis, remember and know who Christ is.

He is truly good. In the tough times, He carried me through, sharing the yoke with me. In the good, He brought me through to see even more than what my human eyes could appreciate. I thank Him for the wonderful people that I am surrounded with. I thank Him for the loving family that I have. Most of all, I thank Him that by His grace, the price of sin is lifted from my shoulders. Christ bore my sins. He atoned them for me, and with that grace, I am made worthy by Him.

Glory be to God.

Serene, sculptural, beautiful. Designed by William O’Brien Jr.

And speaking of sculptures, here is ‘The Little Mermaid’ at Denmark’s pavilion in Shanghai, China. Her small, almost fragile and lonely figure is cast into the centre of a white cave, naked to the invasive eyes of tourists. Very impactful presentation.
